Few come calling for Reliance Comm global asset sale

[February 02, 2010] More than a month after putting its biggest global assets up for sale, Reliance Communications has found few callers for a package that includes its prized FLAG undersea cable network.
Sources close to the deal said Reliance Comm had already extended an initial deadline of late-January for submissions once, but had still attracted little interest for the deal seeking $3 billion.
The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.
One source said Singapore Technologies Telemedia - which owns stakes in Singapore's StarHub and undersea cable operator Global Crossing -- is contemplating a bid. [Continue . . . ]

RIL’s Q3 profit expected to rise on higher output from KG D6

[January 19, 2010] Higher natural gas production from the KG D6 fields off the eastern coast of India is likely to buoy revenues of Reliance Industries Ltd, or RIL, in the December quarter though lower margins on petrochemicals and oil refining are expected to temper profit growth, according to analysts tracking India’s most valuable company. [January 09, 2010] The violence against Reliance group, allegedly provoked by a news telecast claiming the business giant got Y S Rajasekhara Reddy killed in a helicopter crash, has triggered unrest in Congress with fingers pointing at Jaganmohan Reddy. While the Telangana faction of the party accused Jagamohan faction of trying to derail division of Andhra Pradesh, others felt it was only an attempt to show that chief minister K Rosaiah was not fit to steer a difficult situation as well as to block the process of formation of Telangana. Reliance Industries: Filling its coffers

[January 06, 2010] The sale of a part of Reliance Industries’ (RIL) treasury stock through a block deal on the bourses inaugurated trading in 2010. RIL garnered almost Rs 2,675 crore by selling 25.85 million shares (held by a trust, owned by a RIL subsidiary) to LIC at an average price of Rs 1,035 per share or a 5 per cent discount to the previous closing price.
