Shell Deepwater Services (SDS) provides a full range of value added services to deepwater operating units within Shell. Services range from exploration and regional assessment to development planning, drilling and execution, as well as high-end technical services in support of those operations and geology, geophysics, petrophysics, reservoir engineering and production technology. The group has close ties within Shell's R&D community (SEPTAR). We are currently seeking a Production Engineer-Well Systems for our Woodcreek facility located in Houston, Texas.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to practice your skills and acquire experience working with integrated subsurface teams and within a group of highly skilled and diversified Production Engineers and other subsurface specialists. You will be called upon to provide completion strategy, recommend completion types, calculate inflow and outflow, maintain and create well performance data bases, assist with well test design and execution, and assist with sand control decisions and design. 15-20% international travel required.
To qualify, you must possess a BS/MS related technical degree and 5-15 years' experience in Production Engineering/Technology with a sound understanding of PT fundamentals, and experience in an operational environment and development planning/asset management team. In addition, you should have a good understanding of production engineering fundamentals, especially with respect to completions, including the following: establishing sand control requirements, selecting the optimum sand surface completion, proposing optimum completion type, inflow performance modeling, well and production system modeling, completion sizing, identifying flow assurance concerns, exploration/appraisal well test design and execution, tubular selection, PT input into the data acquisition strategy, application of new and smart well technology, completion materials selection, well proposals introduction and implementation of "Completion Practices". Offshore experience preferred; deepwater experience desirable.
